Swoope Volunteer Fire Company had a busy week in Deerfield, VA. We were dispatched to two working structure fires in three days. The first fire came on Thursday evening. First units marked on location with a construction trailer with smoke showing. Swoope joined crews from Deerfield and Churcvhille to extinguish the fire and check for extensions. The second fire came in on Saturday afternoon and involved a single family dwelling. First crews arrived on location to find a home fully involved with fire. Crews not only battled the flames but water supply was also a challenge due to the lack of hydrants in that area. Crews from Swoope, Deerfield, Churchville, Mt. Solon, and Verona worked together to establish a reliable water source via a creek and use a tanker shuttle to help deliver water to the scene. Many thanks to all of the members that were involved and to the other departments for their hard work on both incidents.
