Landing Zone - Buffalo Gap Highway
Tuesday, March 7th, 2017
On March 7, 2017 at 14:56 hours the Swoope Volunteer Fire Company sent Engine 14-5 to assist our neighboring Churchville Fire Company with setting up a Landing Zone next to Buffalo Gap High School. Churchville was already committed with an Engine to the motor vehicle accident on Little Calf Pasture Highway, a car versus a tree. Churchville did send a second Engine to landing zone.
Engine 14-5 arrived to set up landing zone as University of Virginia Pegasus Air Transport was on final approach. Fire Chief Kevin L. Wilkes assumed Command and the four-man helicopter team stood by awaiting Augusta County Fire & Rescue - Rescue 16-01 (Ambulance) to arrive with patient from accident scene.
The helicopter lifted off around 15:34 hours and transported the patient to University of Virginia in Charlottesville for further evaluation.

On May 10, 2017 at 14:22 hours, the Swoope Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for an Automobile Fire with "flames visible" on Route 262 at Morris Mill Road.Engine 14-5 responded with three personnel and arrived to find an automobile on the southbound shoulder, fully involved with fire.

On May 4, 2017 at 04:31 hours, the Swoope Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched as automatic aid to assist Verona Fire Company with a dispatched working house with flames showing. Augusta County Fire & Rescue Battalion Commander 3 arrived on scene and reported fire from the second floor window.
